Yesterday morning, our office had another session on pre-preparation for Pulau Perhentian getaway. Where is Perhentian Island? Google it .. its in Malaysia .. second best for snorkelling and sun bathing after Sipadan Island. I've been to Sibu Island and Pangkor.. but I am very sure Perhentian Island would out rank those two Islands. This time it was Kayaking. The location of the kayaking session was near the female sport complex. You have to walk further up the slopes until you reach a small reservoir. The water was dark and murky but as long as you can put a boat on it and paddle; it'll serve its purpose :-)
It was my first experience kayaking. First, we had a technical session on how to hold the long paddle. How to Row, turn and reverse..How to even get into the kayak :-). First, I went in on a double seater with Imah. She became the lead and sat on the back. We rowed and rowed until we reach the middle of the reservoir. Imah became tired so we rowed back. Well what do you know .. i became alil bit excited after the first round and opted to take another round .. alone!!! he he he. I rowed until most of the guys went up .... rowed back towards the shallow water... and embark. BTW, I got stuck .. man it was embarassing but what the heck!!! Its an experience I won't forget.
While walking back after the 3 hour session, it reminded me of the time I and my family were strolling along Oxford Canal in Oxford. The water was much more clearer and nicer of course. There was such a fuss and lo and behold ... there was a race between the colleges in Oxford. They were using the similiar type of kayak but instead of paddle .. they were using this rowing oars... I will try to find some pics and post it up...
Oxford canal is a 77 mile long canal. Above is one pic of the canal.
